We are always coming across great images, and It sometimes can be hard to get creative with them.
Well, I'm going to show you a few ways, to play with, and really utilize those gorgeous images, sitting in your folders.
( Image used is with a personal use license from AIL and is ©Camelia )
For this, all you need is an Image. No tubes, Just An Image.
You can add scraps to them, but keep it simple. Usually there is a reason the image isn't tubed, and usually it is too gorgeous to cut up... with all that detail, why let it go to waste.
There are two parts to this tutorial. The first is just a few ways to "
set " the image alone, and the second, is the actual tut to make the
tag.
Lets start with a few basics.
Masking:
You would be amazed, what you can really do with just a mask. ( I'm using Ginny and VIX Masks for this example )
Here are a few places, to find some Free to use Masks.

The first step is always, if the image doesnt cover the area of your canvas, you need to flood fill the backing with a gradient, or a color that matches the image. Then, merging the two layers, followed by your mask.
When you load a mask, for example onto a full image. You have to watch where it cuts off, and how much. You don't want to take too much from the image.
So choose a mask, that has a nice, solid outside, or one you can bevel, and make semi solid. Sometimes you can add a small dropshadow, bevel, and it can make a nice button style tag.
When, and if you dropshadow, black is NOT always the best option. Play with your colors, and your settings. I'll show you mine below, and you can go your way from there.
I used green from the image.

Another option, ( which I find to be more pleasing ) Is just making a black layer ( Or whichever color you prefer ) , and loading the same mask. You get this result.

Something else to try, is just flood filling the back with a dark color, and loading a mask, it Really Can make it 'POP'. You have to pick one that peeks from the sides of your main image.
If it doesn't come out dark enough, just copy and paste a new layer, of the same merged group, and it will darken it. Dropshadows will just make it look fuzzy at this point.

Another route to go, is to utilize the whole image, then frame it with scraps, or just mask and layer it.
For the sake of not having to dig through my Scraps, I'm just going to do a mask, but the steps would basically be the same if you use a Frame element from a scrapkit.
Now, to make a Tag, using what you have learned.
PERSONALITY OF MANY COLORS
I Load my mask, as above, and get it to my liking. Then I Make it invisible ( click the eye in your layer properties box )
Then, I load another copy of the image, onto the bottommost layer.
Here, I played with the artistic effects. Halftone, then Enamel, and used the settings below.

I then, mirrored the image.
I Loaded a rounded mask, and merged that group.I then, made a new layer, flood filled it with black, and loaded the same mask, and merged those two together.

Then, I selected my main layer, and made it visible. Cut it and pasted as a new image, then I reduced the size by 100 Pixels.
And then, I arranged it, as so.

Now, I'm going to keep this one simple, So I'm going to create a full text background, using font PIXELMIX.
Mine Reads "Personality of many colors" To make this, I Wrote one full line, and as a new selection added it to a new layer on the TOP.
I then used CTRL+C then CTRL+E To paste the line of text again, and put it under the other.. Repeat this until you have what I have below. Give it a staggered look, you don't want all the text to be uniform.

I then, took my selection tool, ( Freehand Selection ) set my feather to 10, and just kinda drew me a squiggly circle, to smooth out and make it look like a mask almost. Helps to blend the tag together. Click your selection and Hit Delete, on your keyboard.
Move to the bottommost layer.
Open a new layer, move to the bottom, under your text, and flood fill white.
I added my word art, if you would like what I use, you can download it Here.
I set the text to luminance ( if you use mine, its in psd. format and already set )

Once you have that, I consider the tag finished. Keepin it simple! :)
Add your copyright, license number, etc, and you have made a great tag , from just an image!
